Parklands Baptist Church's Podcast
December Week 1 Theme Vision: Impartation of Uncommon Presence.
If you’re ending the year tired yet grateful, this conversation offers a steadying centre: the promised presence of God that goes with us, gives rest, and quietly changes everything. We anchor in Exodus 33, where Moses asks for God’s ways and favour, and receives a promise that reshapes how we measure progress and peace. Instead of pushing harder to earn a sense of arrival, we explore how presence accomplishes what effort alone can’t, favour aligns our work with timely help, and distinction marks a life set apart without turning faith into a brand.
We unpack what rest looks like in the wilderness of unfinished goals and unexpected detours. Rest here is not passive; it is the fruit of being led. From meetings and family life to private doubts, we trace how favour appears as clarity, courage, and doors that open at the right moment. Along the way, we name how to posture our hearts for rejoicing that is rooted in God’s character rather than the calendar, and how to close the year without hurry or cynicism.
You’ll hear practical encouragement for finishing strong: pray simple prayers that listen, return to Scripture that reorients desire, and take prompt, small steps of obedience. Expect insights on distinguishing markers of God’s presence—joy under pressure, integrity in grey spaces, and hope that resists despair. If you’re longing for a reset grounded in something deeper than productivity, join us as we set our eyes on the One who goes with us. If this speaks to you, subscribe, share with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a review to help others find the show.

Praise the Lord and welcome to this first week of the last month of this year. It's amazing, amazing, amazing that uh it has been a great year, and the Lord has been by our side, and that's the testimony that we have as we come to the end of this year that the Lord has been with us, and therefore, we are now talking about the impartation of uncommon presence. This presence that has worked with us is a presence that gives us joy and delight, and therefore, uh, it is the spirit-led joy. And as we come into this month, as we enter into this month, I want you to position yourself for a time of rejoicing in the doing of the Lord. And uh, why will we rejoice? It's because we have the promised presence, the promised presence. The Bible tells us in Exodus 33, verse 13 to 16. Moses is speaking back to God, is he's having a conversation with God and is saying, If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways, so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people. Uh, Moses is telling God, and then God replies in verse 14 The Lord replied, My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. Then Moses said to him, If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. And then verse 16, How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all other people on the face of the earth? The promised presence is characterized by three things. Number one, this is the presence that accomplishes, and when we are talking about God's presence, we are saying that God's presence is active, it is not passive. When God's presence is upon your life as has been throughout the year, then you know that God is actively engaged in your life, and because of his presence, then we are able to accomplish, we are able to accomplish much more than we can think of or even imagine. For the children of God, God is telling Moses that my presence will go with you and I will give you rest. Remember, the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness, and God is saying, I am going to accomplish for you rest. I am going to accomplish for you the promise that I have given you. And therefore, the presence of God is with you. And even as we come towards the end of this year, God is going to accomplish that which He has promised you for this year in Jesus' name. But secondly, this presence that is promised is the presence that favors. He says that uh how will we know? How will people know that we have received favor from you unless your presence goes with us? And therefore, this presence of God that He has promised us is one that bestows favor over your life, and because of God's presence over your life, you are favored in Jesus' name. But number three, this is the presence that distinguishes the presence that accomplishes, the presence that favors, but also the presence that distinguishes. Moses is asking God what will distinguish us as a nation, as a people from all the peoples of the world. It is not wealth, it is not what we have or what we don't have, it is not our height, it is not our skin color, it is not even our nationality, it is the presence of God, the promised presence of God in our life. And when you are walking under the presence of God, when you are walking in the presence of God, when you are walking with the presence of God, then you are distinguishable, and people are able to notice that there is something different in your life. And so this year, you are ending this year strong because you are unique, you are distinguished because of the presence of God. And therefore, I encourage you to continue tapping into this presence of God, which accomplishes this presence of God which favors, and this presence of God that distinguishes you and sets you apart for his glory and for the joy that abounds in your life. May the Lord bless you and may the Lord bless this final month of this year, and may He continue to accomplish great things in your life in Jesus' mighty name. God bless you. Amen.
